RND 2007

Red Nose Day 2007

Today, the 6th form team at Steyning Grammar School, West Sussex, held events in which to raise money for 'Comic relief'.

The 6th formers found many interesting and fun ways to raise the money. These events included:

  • A 'Inter form Tug-Of-War' competition
  • Leg Waxing
  • Karaoke
  • Baked Bean Bath
  • A fashion show
Yesterday at 11:15am, the 'tug-of-war' competiton was held on the school playing feild. The form groups had to choose 6 students to take part in 'the tug-of-war'. This was good fun for all the students, either taking part, or cheering their form group on. At 1:00pm, the finals for the competition were held. Money was raised by charging people to spectate.

Today however, the main events where held. The morning began with the Karaoke being held at 11:15. It was a huge success and a good laugh as students came on stage to perform their song. The hosts of this were myselfm (ben Flenley) and Ben Ryan (a close friend).

This was continued at 1:00pm where the host was Jamie Topp. The karaoke had performances from many students and teachers. After asking a few friends about what there favourite acts were, the most common was a school since teacher, Mr.Linney, who sung Who Let The Dogs Out by the Baha Men.

At same time as the morning karaoke, the fashion show was held. I heard this was a great laugh too. It was hosted Jamie Topp.

In order to raise more money, male students were nominated to have their legs waxed.

Finally, the other event being held was the baked bean bath. This consisted of couples being sat in a bath full of baked beans. If that wasn't enough, students paid 50p for a cup of baked beans, in which they tipped over the students in the bath. this was very messy, but very enjoyable to watch.

Overall, it was a very fun day with a lot of hard work put into it by the students and lecturers. Well done to everyone who participated and helped make the day work.
